Well, you can, rechargable batterys will work in anything that is within it's range, like if you buy a rechargable AA battery, as long as the item is rated to run with a AA battery the rechargable battery should work in it's place, but they do seem to run out faster al unregularly
I use Rayovac 15min rechargables in everything in my room that requires AA or AAA. They are 2000mAh NiMH, and since they fully charge in 15min it's not a big deal if you don't have a fully charged pair sitting around when some die. You should be able to use any rechargables though, so just get some that you can deal with the full charge time on.
On a side note there is a company thats coming out with a wiimote rechargable battery pack and a charge station. Forget the name, but it's called the Power Station I believe.
