Activision has today announced that it’s bringing the hit TV show Wipeout to Nintendo Wii. Wipeout: The game challenges fans to master speed, balance, and precision to overcome the world’s largest obstacle course while enduring the inevitable hilarious falls, sometimes at the hands of your own family and friends. Here’s David Oxford from Activision Publishing talking about the game:

“Watching ABC’s Wipeout every week on TV is outrageous fun, and the viewers can’t help but dream of trying the obstacles themselves. We designed the video game with this in mind. Wipeout: The Game brings all of the challenge and laugh-out-loud hilarity, without the pain.”

In the game, players compete to make it through to the grand finale Wipeout Zone and eventually be proclaimed champion. On the way, they’ll have to run, jump and dodge all of Wipeout’s various obstacles, including the brutal Sucker Punch, the Big Balls, and the insanely difficult Sweeper.

Four players can compete at the same time, even going so far as to hurl objects at, and taunt, their opponents. The video game features everything that people love about the ABC show, including commentary from hosts John Anderson, John Henson and co-host Jill Wagner.

Look for Wipeout: The Game to be released for the Wii this summer.
