Defeat Guards

how do i defeat the first guard going up to death mountain? Im trying to grab him but that doesnt seem to work. By the way, are the goron mines in the same direction as death mountain?

you have to put on the iron boots and have been taught how to wrestle by the ordon mayor.then you have to go back up to the gaurd and put on the iron boots and press grab at the right time.
