snowpeak ruins cannon troubles??

not sure where to ask this... probably stupid question/.


I am at snowpeak ruins... i cannot get the cannon to fire. i put the cannon ball in the cannon and turned it south... nothing happened. What do I do to get it to fire? thanks!
