Key to Boss Room in Forest Temple

I can't unlock the door to the last room in the Forest Temple. I've been back to every room to find the key, but it seems like I have collected them all??? According to all the guides I've looked at, I thought the key was in the chest behind the gate you opened by hitting the windmill in the "Z" pattern. I did that a long time ago, but now I don't have the key. Help someone!!!

Sounds like it's just a glitch, if you have a saved game before you originally collected the boss key, load that and see if you can collect the key again. Or you may not know where it is in your inventory, try opening the boss door.
