I suggest not resorting to websites for help. They make you get confused and it ruins the game for you. Take your time to work it out - its worth the satisfaction to do it yourself.
The area you mentioned - I'm sure you've worked it out by now, but its to unlock an important item to get through the dungeon. For now, don't get caught up with it. Move onwards to the next room or puzzle you can work out.
Have you noticed that every bridge in the 'windy' room have the same wind fans stuck on top of them? That's a BIG hint. If you can't do anything with them with every item you've got, all you have to do is ignore it and move on to the rooms that you can access with the items you currently have.
The forest temple can be tricky, but it is easier to get through in comparison to other dungeons later in the game.
