starting water temple

I am having trouble getting started in the water temple. I get to the big room with the rotating staircase, but find nothing but dead ends and a locked door from here... Any help?

Well, what I did was just mess around for ages looking for rooms ect... If I remeber i think there's is a thing that you can hook onto above the chandelier (is that how you spell it?) after you get the hookshot from the mini-boss that gets you the boss key...
