help with xbox live

i am getting an xbox 360 and does my xbox have to be right next to my computer to get the internet connection for xbox live

no, if its the $400 model it should come with an ethernet cable which is what you need to plug into your modem

you need a router and an ehternet cable that is the correct length to get to your xbox (or buy the wireless addon for $100 and a wireless router)

Also, if you want to get a GREAT speed connection rather than major lag from a router, directly connect the ethernet cable cord to the broadband modem. It does cancel out internet to a computer and everyone using it, but whats the point of getting on Xbox Live if you get a horrible connection and lag like crazy? That is why games now have the "ban" option ^_^ gewd luck.
