seriously, this method is hopeless.

"it works, i've done it three times"

is that to 3 different consoles? or the same one?

there is only one "almost" permanent fix for the 3RLOD and it
doesn't involve towels or ovens.

obviously if your warranty is up, try it by all means, you have nothing to
lose. if still in warranty, be patient and send it back to M$. they are now
(apparently) ensuring that you get your "own" console back and not some
grubby snotty nosed oiks who has used his to collect dead skin cells.
