GTA IV censored

As reported by The Sydney Morning Herald, in order to obtain an MA15+ rating down under, the GTA developers were forced to remove material that was deemed too much for release.
The MA15+ rating is the highest classification certificate available in the country.
A spokesperson for Rockstar confirmed yesterday that the company did produce a special version in order to comply with Australian law, but declined to reveal what had been cut. We're pretty sure the internet will be all over that once the game is released.
So far, the game has received an 18+ rating in Britain, New Zealand and Germany, and an M for Mature in America.

MA15+ is the highest available...it wouldn't get released if it was any higher.

Fine. Why is MA15+ the highest rating in the country? And why is this the first I've heard of this.. sure I've played Aussies on GoW..

Why is it the highest? That is down to the respective board of each country.
I don't know...maybe you don't follow Australian news?
Gears didn't get banned I believe it received a MA15+ too.

Australia is weird with the way they rate. They only go up to MA15+, if it goes above then the game is banned from the entire country.
Worse than ESRB.
