Seriously, why would you involve the army with this game? That makes absolutely no sense to me.
As for television being the cause of increased violence, why is it that he doesn't rant on that?
As for his last question....imo, it became pretty boring.
Edit: Source
Here is a funny comment I found on Kotaku about it.

No, he does have a point. It's true that not all blame can be placed on video games for societies problems. Scenes of violence do have a sub-conscious effect on the mind. It's just like if there is an advert on T.V. for a product. It washes over people and nobody thinks it has influenced them. Yet sales of that product suddenly rise. There is something wrong with human beings that makes us enjoy being able to have power to kill people, even if it is in simulations. The levels of violence in the streets is escalating (in the Western World at least) and like he said, it can be linked with the rise of violent television, movies and video games. We can't just say it's not true - you may not notice it, but everything has an impact on your mind. How can you be so against somebody that genuinely cares about society and the world around him. He said all that stuff to get through to people and make us aware - we shouldn't ignore him.

I do agree with all the violence part, but if you want people to listen to you, then you should at least get your facts straight. He's over here talking about how you can do this and that in the game when you really can't. I see that he cares but how do you expect people to listen to you when you're just making up stuff as you go. Also, he was wrong about the first three selling millions because the real first three wasn't that popular, only the third. He should've at least specified that it was part 3, Vice City, and San Andreas.
Also, I strongly believe that all this violence we see and play only affects us depending on how vulnerable we are to believe that it is cool to do it.

There's a reason as to why this game was rated "M" for Mature. This game has just become another "scapegoat" for todays problems. You hijacked a car? Blame it on Grand Theft Auto. I've never taken a game seriously in a sense that I would re-enact what happens. Which, I'm sure is the case for most people.
Another issue I'd like to touch upon is that never once has the game told you and or suggested that you go out and do this. As for abusing women, sexually, that's a joke. Go take a walk outside and take a look at the billboards, the magazine ads, television ads etc. Now, if you ask me, the way women are portrayed in some magazines/ads will have a greater effect than that of GTA. This is especially true when we live in a society where "Sex Sells" and women and men are half naked in many of the advertisements.

"Today $60 buys your kid the same thing"
You would think that with the gas prices being as high as they are, and the economy being as bad as some say, having the ability to save a little bit of money on your murder training method of choice would be a good thing.
Some people are never satisfied...

Actually, watching an extremely violent film or playing a violent game does not make a person more aggressive in the sense that they were never aggressive, now they are. These acts just bring out aggression that was already present.

The last load of posts have been so true.
The "Training our kids to be killers" part just pisses me off. It doesn't. Like Syntax said it just gets used as a scapegoat now. I think that the people who go out and mass murder people.. they wasn't perfectly normal people, who then played a game like GTA then suddenly decided to go out and kill people. That sort of thing is in them already, and they have some serious issues that could not be caused simply from playing a game.. other wise everyone would be running around with guns shooting each other.

Wow, he's stupid. I've never killed a prostitute with a baseball bat after having sex with her...I run her over then take the money that I paid her. It's so much more satisfying.
Seriously though, if anything, this game shows how bad it is to do these crimes. I'm blatantly not going to go out and mow some people down or shoot them, since I for one wouldn't want about 50 police officers shooting my ass with like 4 choppers spraying me with bullets and a S.W.A.T. team after me. Hell no.
Everyone who said it's already in them is right. If you re-enact a video game you're already messed up, and if you were too young to be playing the video game in the first place then it's the parents fault.
Also, the army might use COD4 to their advantage, since it's obv | |
