The trick is to cancel your jump with an Up Smash

I don't use tap jump

The OoS is a Sheild Jump Cancel

Dash Attack if you mess up a pivot
A Grab or an Up Air if you mess up the OoS

It basicly is a Crouch Cancel but perfected and honed so it becomes seamless. Although Crouch Canceling in the general term is a type of DI.

Somewhat, the timing needs to be learned.

I did that a couple of times in the WiFi Stage.

Dash Canceling allows you to attack with any move while running including specials.

When you Dash Dance there is a single frame where your character stands upright. You can perform any attack from that position so you basicly can be Dash Dancing then suprise your opponent with a instant Forward Smash.

And integrating and timing wavedashes correctly.

Nope, it's called a Pivot.
