How come everytime when i complete a level and get bonus lifes,i get lifes from peach,i buy lifes from those toads and then save the game,shut off my wii and come back to the game later when i start up i have 4 stars again?Its basically useless trying to get those bonus stars is no matter what happens i will end up with 4.

It's been like that since Super Mario Sunshine I believe. It makes the game more challenging I suppose to start out with 4 lives each time.

or do you mean your lives go back to normal, thats because lives are too easy too get, so its kind of like a challenge.
