Are Wii Accessories (i.e. Controller) region lock?

I am going to USA for the holiday. I was wondering whether I can use accessories (i.e. controller) from the USA on UK Wii console as accessories are much cheaper in the USA.

i doubt it because the controllers use IR and bluetooth to communicate and as far as i know you cant really modify those (to lock them by region), or if you could it would be kinda pointless.

So id say no there not, but to be safe before you leave examine a wii remote package in your city and when you get to the states look for differences, if there are none than get them
