How to make a gif out of a youtube video, or any other video site

Materials

These are all Freeware

(Optional) Screen Capture Device: I use !Quick Screen Capture
(Needed) Gif Making Program: I use Microsoft Gif Animator
(Needed) A video... DUH: I use YouTube
(Needed) Hosting Site: I use ImageShack

Step 1: Find a part in a video that you want to use. I will be using this video:
Embedding disabled so heres the link
The part at 0:56

Step 2: Start watching the video about 5 seconds earlier than the part. When the part comes quickly pause it. Take a rectangular snapshot of the video with your program. If you dont have a screen capture program, press Ctrl + Print Screen. Then press Ctrl + V in MS paint. Crop it to only the video.

Step 3: Wherever your video is copy it (Ctrl + C) and paste it (Ctrl + V) into your gif animator.

Step 4: *This part is tricky* Back on the page with the video put your cursor on the play button BUT DONT CLICK! When your ready, click twice. 1 immediately after the other like this (CLICKCLICK).

Step 5: Keep doing that until you have your desired frames. Save your gif.
Upload it to any hosting site. ON the hosting site resize it to about 320 x 240 if you want to.

Step 6: Marvel at your newfound gif making powers

This is the one i threw together (I didnt spend much time on it so dont kill me, you will have a much smoother result if you can click fast. I know the color is low, its just the program i use. And the little twitches and white line is because i didnt crop all of them the same size which is critical.)

I know its jerky, if i spent more time it wouldnt.

And the vixy thing i thought about that before. Its a good idea.

Oh yeah, any suggestions on Higher Color Res?

Gifs cant handle high res and the amount of color that other file formats can
So its best not to use something with a load of color if its gonna be big

This was made usein the Power DVD method I just added text later
(The program this GIF is from is bottom live 2)
