GH3: death drain?

How the hell do these things work? I always lose from a damn death drain when I go into sudden death with someone. At first I thought it was whoever used theirs first would win...that didnt work. Then I thought it was whoever could play the more accurate while using the death drain...that didnt work (I got 100% and my opponent didnt and I lost).

Will someone please explain how it works!

Well your meter carries over form the game before so if he was in green and you in yellow that might be why...also a tip...you can bring powerups into sudden death

I wish it would actually explain this stuff in the instructions!!!!

like marioman said, your status will carry over
also i think you said this, if you both use it at the same time, have the same health, and you miss a note, he'll win
i recommend making sure you have one item left before the end of the song, then use it on the battle notes so you get the drain and they dont
