Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC entertainment* announced today that they are bringing Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters to the Nintendo Wii. The action-adventure game will be released in conjunction with Warner Bros. Pictures’ epic super hero feature film Green Lantern, which is due for release in Summer 2011. The game is inspired by the feature film, which sees the DC Comics super hero making his big screen debut, with Ryan Reynolds in the title role of Hal Jordan, the newest member of the Green Lantern Corps.

In the game, players will get to use over a dozen constructs, and travel to the deepest parts of the universe in a bid to restore intergalactic order by wielding the Green Lantern power ring. Here’s Samantha Ryan, Senior Vice President, Production and Development, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, talking about the game.

“Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters gives players the chance to experience the world of the Green Lantern mythology in an interactive way, going beyond the events of the film and comic books. The game is the first to centre around DC Comics’ Green Lantern franchise and we’re excited to give fans the opportunity to experience the power of the ring with engaging gameplay.”

Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters is expected to be released in summer 2011.
