The Need For Speed franchise has always been very popular with Wii gamers, so it’s great to see the series finally coming to Wii U, with EA and Criterion Games announcing Need For Speed Most Wanted for Nintendo’s newest console. Already the winner of more than 30 industry awards, the spectacular racing game is due to be launched on Wii U on March 19 in North America and March 21 in Europe, and will use three unique features of the Wii U GamePad, as well as including bonus content. Firstly, the Wii U version of the game introduces an all-new local co-op mode, Co-Driver, where one player drives using the Wii Remote or Wii U Pro Controller, and the other uses the Wii U GamePad to chip in with control and navigation assistance on the fully interactive real-time map. Via the touchscreen, the player will be able to distract cops that are chasing you, switch from night to day, activate enhanced performance for any car, or control how much traffic there is on the road. Secondly, players can also change their mods, change cars, track milestones and uncover hidden gems in the city, all on the fly via the Wii U touchscreen. And last, but not least, the whole game will also now be playable off-screen on the Wii U GamePad. Also included is the Ultimate Speed Pack, featuring three of the most incredibly fast cars ever made, namely McLaren’s F1 LM, the Aventador J from Lamborghini, the Pagani Zonda R, Bugatti’s Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse, and Hennessey’s Venom GT Spyder.
