How ''tall'' is the Wii??

And what do the x - buttons do on the wiimote?

First of all, the remote has no X on it, it's a plus sign.

+/- have various functions, in the Wii Menu they serve as a tool to switch between screens like you would in a slideshow.

The Wii is approximately 1.5" when laying down and 4-6" when standing (4.5" without stand, 6" with I believe).
