Tony Hawk Down Hill Jam multiplayer

I had some difficulty adding wiimotes to Tony Hawk Down Hill Jam game. I was able to use the same wiimotes with the Wii Sports games so they work. When I get to the multiplayer screen on Tony Hawk it shows the first Wiimote and when I try to add the others, the 4 lights on the Wiimote just flash like it is trying to sync. Help please?
