Why did nintendo only supply so many?

hey,

i was just wondering is there any reason why nintendo only baught so many of these to the uk? i mean did they not know what a great hit it was going to be? or is it that they cut corners?

Every region is allocated a certain number of consoles at launch and then more are shipped as time passes.
The Wii is so popular everywhere, that it is quite difficult for Nintendo to match the demands of consumers everywhere at the same time.

Partly because they underestimated the success and partly because they released the console worldwide at the same time.
