Wii U GamePad prototype revealed in latest Iwata Asks

The innovation of Nintendo knows no bounds as the prototype for the Wii U GamePad has been revealed today and to the amusement of many -- including those who created it, it's simply two Wiimotes taped to a small monitor.
The prototype debuted in the latest Iwata Asks -- a series of interviews conducted by Nintendo Global President Satoru Iwata. These interviews are with the people behind the making of Nintendo games and hardware.

The GamePad came up in a discussion over the new Nintendo Land, as it was being developed at the same time the Wii U was being created.

"That was back when we haven't yet decided on a concrete concept for Wii U," Satoru Iwata said. "We experimented many things, and one of that was to see what would happen if there was another dedicated screen to a TV game console."
