Anybody notice they took the names out of Tecmo Bowl?

No more Walter Payton.

And I could be mistaken, but in the touchdown celebration, didn't they used to have an occasional black person instead of two white guys?

How about those cheerleaders? Woo!

I also noticed that. They always had two white guys high fiving each other in the end zone. THis game does not hold up as well as other sport classics like Punchout or RBI Baseball. I wish I had my $5 back.

hhhmmmmmm, yep. They sure did. All names are blank.

That says a few things to me. One, I thought Ninty would never go through the trouble to edit an old ass game for our enjoyment, seeing how they arent going to make a million dollars from Tecmo Bowl or anything. That is good, they could have scrapped the game b/c they didnt want a conflict with the names.

Two, If this is the first game on VC they edited, that means it COULD be possible to get those games online one day.

Im not sure if they took the black animation out. I will throw a pass to #80_______________ of the San Fransisco Unicorns and find out. LOL. Doesnt seem like they would go out of their way to do that.

It holds up when you have a second player that cares about the game. I just wasted my roomate who proceeded to tell me what a shitty game it is. It can be a very competitive 2 player game.

Punch out is one player. I have been hitting ABABABABABABABABABABABABABABABAB START on punch out for just a few too many years. Little redundant.

Apples and Oranges

from wikipedia:
The 2007 Virtual Console release is a modified version of the game without the NFLPA license- players are represented only by number and not by name.

We can thank our blood-thirsty monopolizing friends at EA for this. When EA purchased the exclusive rights to the NFL/ESPN/NFLPA (basically to put Sega's 2K series out of business, rather than spend the hundreds of millions of dollars to develop a better Madden game) they made it quite impossible for new releases to use real NFL players, unless it's another crappy carbon-copy Madden remake.

NFL 2k5 for life. I'm still playing it on my 'box, and will continue to do so until Sega's new pro football game is released.

Didnt know all that. That sucks. EA sports are some money grubbing bastards. They have 0 customer service even tho they are trillionaires, AND now this.

It happened a little over a year ago. Sega released ESPN NFL 2k5 for $19.99 (compared to EA's Madden 2005 for $49.99). Not only was the game less than half the price, but most reviewers rated 2k5 BETTER than Madden, without taking the price into consideration.

So rather than EA taking it's billions of dollars and funding their development team to create a better game, they effectively bought out their competition, and any competition that may arise in the next decade. God only knows how that's legal.

I haven't played an EA game since, nor do I intend to in the future. They'll continue selling 5 million copies of Madden each year to mush-brained frat boys, but they won't see a penny of mine ever again.

Thier license most likely expired and that would mean they werent able to rerelease it with the names. since this would be considered a re-release.

Not surprising really, if you think about it. EA started out great, became a super power, and turned on their public.... sad but common story.

In order purchased: cardboard box, pickle jar, sleeping bag, Wii, Honda Generator, Security Guy from Wackenhut (be amazed at how many people try to break into my box now to steal my pickle jar, I am the ONLY guy out here with indoor plumbing)

OMG THOSE CLASSIC NAMES WERE THE REASON I WAS GOING TO PURCHASE THAT GAME TO BEGIN WITH!!!!

what a waste! thank god i didnt do it cause i was really looking forward to playing with the NY jets back in the 80s...... holy cow im genuinly upset. thats so stupid they got rid of names.
