Batteries?

Do you need batteries in order for the controller to work? If so, how often do you need to replace them? Also, does anybody think this is a bit thoughtless of Nintendo to have battery operated controllers?

yes... 2 AA's

the controllers are wireless...

ussualy 20-40 hours depending on the batterys

Yes, I know they're wireless, but I would have expected them to use a rechargable battery pack instead and the console comes with perhaps a holder which you can put your controller in and it recharges. :)

and what have to charge you remote like a phone or ds? or have the remote stick out of the console whie charging? no offence but i don't think so

Lol ever heard ofa plug socket? Stick a holder/charger thing in and stick your controller in it.

im sure its possible to recharge batteries without taking them out such as the hopes of a rechargable batterie pack and recherging dock is possible because if the nunchuk can use power form remote power can go in, probably, i hope so thats a cool idea, just my opinion

yeah but having to charge it just doesn't seem right. and also i wasn't serious

Lol, when you post stuff, try to make sure they make sense first. But why doesn't having to charge it seem right? You charge your mobile phone don't you? There are things such as rechargable battery packs, so why doesn't it seem right?

it would make sense if nintendo had a rechargeable battery pack in the wiimote attach to a usb cable, and the other end be attached to one of the usb ports in the back of the wii. that way we could charge the wiimote when not in use. just a thought.

:yesnod:

I went out and bought rechargeable batteries and a charger for my wiimote since this thing sucks batteries, especially if you keep the sound/rumble on.

yea, when i play zelda i keep the sound and rumble off for the sake of having a longer battery life, but i turn them back on for wii sports because it adds to the effect.

Agreed! It feels so neat to whack the tennis ball!

I don't understand the complaint about the non-rechargeable remote.

Buy some rechargable AAs, keep a spare set charged & ready to go. I'm sure you have several other appliances which could use rechargable AAs as well. Otherwise, if you don't have rechargeables ready to go, throw some alkalines in it & you're up & running. Best of both worlds, but the rechargeable is def. a better plan since it is less waste.

I applaud Nintendo for going this route b/c it lessens the clutter around the console & keeps me from having to buy an expensive special rechargeable battery/charger for the remote when it wears out.
