Hi guys,
I took it into my own hands and emailed Nintendo direct regarding Goldeneye coming onto the Wii VC. Here is the reply:
Dear Customer, thank you for your e-mail.
As you may be aware, “GoldenEye” was developed by a second-party developer known as Rare. This company was purchased by Microsoft in 2002, meaning that Rare can not develop any products for Wii. We are currently in talks to get GoldenEye on to the Virtual Console, as it was made at a time when Rare was tied to Nintendo. Also, as you say, it was a great game and would be perfect on Virtual Console. In short, we hope that GoldenEye will be released, but we cannot guarantee it at this time.
Kind regards,
Your Nintendo Team
Well, I'd say the glass was half full on this being released. I'm sure Microsoft will see the commercial viabilty in releasing it (maybe for the Wii AND the Xbox 360?).
I decided last week to seize the moment and bought an N64 plus Goldeneye on ebay for £20! Well worth the money!
