[xfloat=left]http://www.wiichat.com/robry/marioparty8.jpg[/xfloat]Nintendo today announced that Mario Party 8 has become the fastest selling in the popular party franchise.

The game launched in America on May 29th and has sold 550,000 copies since release.

Enlivening Mario Party's fun-filled formula with a carnival theme, the latest version of this virtual board game allows players to use the Wii Remote's unique motion controls while navigating new boards, meeting new characters and going head-to-head in new minigames. Kids and adults can easily pick it up and start playing together.

"The overwhelming response not only reminds us how much fans absolutely love the Mario Party franchise but also proves the unmatched ability of the Wii system to attract new players," said George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications guy. "Wii users are keeping the Mario Party going strong."

That's nice to know, now let's see if the game breaks records in the UK when it launches on July 13th, unlucky for some...

The game is awful. Compare it to Mario Party 1-7, and you'll see what I mean. It may be the worst Mario Party in the series. The fact that 8 Mario Party games have been made with no online mode is disturbing. If you want a great Mario Party, buy 7.

Lol sagema, i belive it sold fast due to the fact it uses the wii mote functions and is fun to play, I might buy it near end of july, hate the fact games come out in England last lol(except mario strikers of course lol)

probably wont buy it (scared of the franchise because of mario party 5...crap storyline.....) but MP 1-4 were good :)

Who buys this crud! 6.5 from Gamespot and 5.20 from IGN. I have played all the games in the series and this is the worst yet. Here's why:

1. Most of the games don't even use the Wii Remote's motion sensing capabilites, you use it gamepad style most of the time.

2. The Graphics are worse than Mario Party 6 and 7.

3. The Game runs in 4:3 instead of 16:9.

4. The Motion Sensing controls feel tacked on.

5. Single player is ''torture''. IGN

6. All that matters is luck.

7. The boards are tiny compared to previous boards on other Mario Party Titles.

8. You can tell it was developed for the Gamecube previously, and unlike Paper Mario it was changed to the Wii horribly.

9. No online, which is sad since Nintendo is screaming at us to play with others on this game.

it IS aweful... I really was expecting the game was good, got the game, played, found it's boring and not fun at all. You can read the reviews about it, it's the truth

i don't thoink it sucks, i just find it's the same as any other mario party, the moition sensing adds SOME goodness to it though.......i guess, play with four people, the competitions makes it fun, and revan how about complaining about it being not online, you get some friends over to play it

the game is not terrible, it is just not for everyone. you need to take it out of the context of the other mario party games for it to be fully enjoyed. ign and gamespot rated it in the context of the other games, and no it is not the best of the series, but it is not a bad game. you guys just expected too much from it, but they did drop the ball on a few things i will admit. i would recommend it if you want a fun multiplayer game.
