NintendoLife reports that Nintendo is planning to release a new Wii Remote, incorporating the Wii MotionPlus peripheral. NintendoLife spotted the new integrated remote featured on box art that Gamestop released for forthcoming game, FlingSmash. FlingSmash was originally due to be released in Summer 2010, but its release has been pushed back. It now looks as though the game will be bundled with what is billed as a “Wii Remote Plus” on the cover art – essentially a Wii Remote with built-in Wii MotionPlus. This makes sense all round, as FlingSmash is one of the new wave of games that will require MotionPlus technology to play, as will the forthcoming Legend of Zelda game, Skyward Sword. You can’t play either of those games without Wii MotionPlus, so doubtless we can expect lots more bundles featuring the new integrated remote.

The game-and-remote bundle was priced at $49.99 on GameStop, but now the listing has mysteriously disappeared. Oops, looks like someone at Nintendo wasn’t too happy about news of the new Wii Remote Plus leaking! Eurogamer followed up on the story and managed to get Nintendo to officially confirm the existence of the new controller, with a Nintendo spokesperson telling the site that the new integrated remote is indeed “real”, adding, probably through gritted teeth, “we have nothing to announce on this at the moment.”
