Smash Bros. Brawl continues to smash up the Media Create charts over in Japan. We predict this will go on at least until we've run out of clever ways to use the word "smash" in a sentence.

The Wii brawler sold 141,544 units over the period covering 2/11 to 2/17, taking it over the 1.2 million mark since its 1/31 release. Smash Bros. destroyed the second best selling title, as Wii Fit managed 62,769 units.

Three newbies followed. Konami's Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side 2nd Season for the DS placed third with 56,202 units, followed by Banpresto's PS2 adventure title Poison Pink, which just fell short at 52,659 units. Following this was Enterbrain's budget re-release of Kimi Kiss, a PS2 adventure game that has a hardcore following. The budget version adds new elements and got 33,510 fans to invest the 3,990 yen.

The rest of the chart consisted of mostly old titles. Wii Sports came in at sixth place with 22,120 units sold, followed by Gundam Giren's Ambition (Bandai Namco, PSP, 21,643), Mario & Sonic at Peking Olympics (Nintendo, DS, 21,086), and Devil May Cry 4 (Capcom, PS3, 17,774). Naruto Shippuuden Dairansen!, the latest DS anime conversion from Takara Tomy, closed off the top 10 with 17,329 units in its first week.

With Smash at the top once again, it's no surprise that the Wii ruled the hardware charts. Its 78,583 units beat out second place DS Lite's 62,362 units and third place PSP's 59,654 units. The PS3 saw another drop to 17,637 units, with the PS2 and Xbox 360 trailing at, respectively, 11,266 and 2,198 units.

nice thread man. imformative. wonder how the numbers will sky rocket after the march release huh?

am i the only one that sees how much brawl is dropping each week. its still at a pretty safe number, but only next weeks numbers will tell.

^ of course its dropping... it's been out for like a month and i'd say at least 50% of the people who want it pre ordered so the numbers went crazy for the first week then tailed off a bit. week of the tenth in march it'll go crazy again and then die off. then it'll sky rocket again in early june.

i dont think it will die off, the game lives off of replay value.

yes but regardless once all the pre orders are satisfied the sales will without question fall... its common sense... it cant sell out forever...

nice post

the sales are bound to die very soon IMO, but as soon as they die in japan, the sales will begin in NA

nintendo YOU clever dog
