How long does it take for this thing to update?

I just got my Wii today, plugged it in, started it up, named it, etc... I've been sitting in front of my TV now for about 40 minutes while it first downloaded a system update, turned itself off, and is now downloading channel updates and something else.

What's the deal? Is it really supposed to take this long? This is crazy!

As I type this it looks like the bar is MAYBE 20% full. :sad: :sleep:

Is it at least downloading everything? New channels, browser, etc.??

Crap... alright well do those take super-long also? I mean I'd like to download them but I also want to play within the next hour.

You get the Internet channel and Voting channel from a free quick download from the shop channel.

if you dont have high speed net it doesnt work properly, you also need a good router, trust me, i had basic lite and it worked after 7 tries. I got high speed internet but it still wasnt working properly, so i had to buy a new router and now its amazingly fast, you need good stuff, whcih sucks.

hey guys, I just hooked up my wii to the internet via Wireless Connection from my router (D-LINK DI524). Anyways, its doing the first update and it is taking forever! Its been nearly 2 1/2 hours and is only 1/4 of the way up... Should I wait until its finished or is there something wrong ? Thanks for the help in advance
