Hi, would you like to know what could be the best external hard drive for the Wii U?

Here are some options:

Im running a hitachi one, Its not the touro, it a little older but works perfectly with a Y cable.

Oh, I forget to mention that external hard drives use two types of Micro-USB connectors:

The Micro-USB type A: (also called micro-usb 2.0)

How to know what kind of connector the external hard drive has?

Well, there is a simple trick. Check the specs of your hard drive, if it says "suppor for USB 3.0" it clearly has the USB type B connector, an if it says "USB 2.0 support" it has the USB type A connector. Also, some older hard drives use the mini-USB connector, like this:



There is a USB Y-cable with this kind of connector too.

My USB 3.0 drive has the big blue square A connector instead of the smaller B connector.

Just though you might want to be aware that there's exceptions.

I have the 1TB version of the same hard drive. It works fine for me. You will need a Y Cable for it. I have read that some people don't recommend Toshiba hard drives. Mine has worked fine so far.
