Hmmm...

If I had Cubasis and a way of linking my keyboard up to my laptop I could probably write music but I don't play drums or guitar or anything. I do wish I had learnt to play Guitar and Bass, though, but I didn't and I'd be damned if I could afford lessons now. Could teach myself I suppose but I don't have the time to put in the effort. xD

Ironic; when I was in school my Music teacher said "the one thing most students regret about school is not learning enough instruments" - didn't think he would be right >.<; :mad2:

It may be a bit late in the thread to say this, or someone else might have mentioned it already (I don't have time to read the whole thread).

To get you started you could use Audacity (instead of cubase) which is free and allows VST plugins to be used. Then you could hook the audio output from your keyboard into the mic input in your laptop, by using a free piece of software called AISO4ALL you could bring the latency down to acceptable levels (I do this with my guitar and bass).

Also you don't kneed to be able to play drums, guitar or base to include them in your tracks. You can use VST plugins to get access to virtual guitars, bass and drums and sequencers, this will allow you to create your own base, drum and guitar lines. VST plugins will also give you access to effects chains and modules such as phaser, distortion, loop, echo and parametric EQ etc that will allow you to really play with your sound (there are bags of free VST plug ins on the net).

Assuming that your fairly adept on the keyboard and understand music theory then this shouldn't represent any real problems, failing that you could always use a VST plugin with samples as a basis to create your own bass, drum, guitar bits.

In that short of time is quite a feat.

For me, writing songs take maybe 20 minutes-3 hours! As long as you practice, have good writing skills, have mostly complete sentences, and your ideas don't stray heavily from the subject of the song, you can accomplish a lot.
