disc channel is live??

i was just reading nintendos press release statement on their website, when i came across this :
The Internet Channel joins the four already-live channels: Disc Channel, Photo Channel, Mii Channel and Wii Shop Channel.

The disc channel is live? does this mean that there will be updates to games?

the disc channel is the channel that you go to to play your games, but i dont understand why it says its live

well its a channel and its accessable..... so that mean its live(working)

They mean that the Internet Channel is now available. They mean live, the ones where they are available also.
