A treat for fans of classic Nintendo gaming characters this week as Donkey Kong Country Returns is released exclusively for the Wii, giving new and experienced players a wild new way to get acquainted with Donkey Kong. The side-scrolling jungle adventure combines imaginative new features and dynamic motion controls with classic elements from the original Donkey Kong Country games for Super NES. And for the first time ever in the series, friends will be able to play together in a cooperative two-player mode.

The game’s story is set on scenic Donkey Kong Island, where the mischievous Tiki Tak Tribe has plundered Donkey Kong’s banana stash. Players use either the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers or a single Wii Remote held horizontally to maneuver the famous ape as he runs, jumps and climbs his way through more than 70 levels on his quest to recover his stolen ‘nanas. Players can shake the controllers to perform such moves as the Ground Pound or forward-tumbling Barrel Roll.

With the new simultaneous two-player mode, a second player with their own Wii Remote and Nunchuk can join in the action as Donkey Kong’s sidekick, Diddy Kong, who likes to ride on Donkey Kong’s back and use his Barrel Jet to defy gravity.

Each level in Donkey Kong Country Returns contains lots of hidden items for players to discover, such as hidden puzzle pieces and K-O-N-G letters. Collect enough of them and you’ll be able to unlock fun enhancements such as new stages and behind-the-scenes concept art.

Love the way they’re revamping the classic on the Wii, keep ‘em coming Nintendo!
