Hello--

I am at the point in the game where I need to escort Ilia and the Zora child to Kakariko Village to see the shaman. Of course, when I go across the field I am bombarded by attacks by the warthog riders as well as the bomb-dropping birds.

I am stuck here with only one arrow left after several game overs so I cannot kill the birds, and their bomb dropping is continually sending the horse cart in a big circle around Hyrule Field. I understand that I need to distract the birds with the Gale Boomerang as well as put out the fire in the cart, but it is extremely frustrating to do so while running around on Epona and I have been stuck on this part of the game for several days without being able to get past.

For those of you who have gotten past this part, am I doing something wrong? Basically, my strategy is to distract the birds as much as possible, put out the fire whenever it shows up, and attack the goblins on the warthogs whenever possible. I just keep trying and trying but nothing seems to be working and I'm starting to get mad.

Please help! Give me some advice, maybe I am missing something glaring here. Or maybe I just suck.

I never had to deal with the birds. I just used my sword through out the whole thing. Except for putting out the fires.

For some reason, when I was on that part, it seemed like I had a never-ending supply of arrows. I only have a quiver that holds 30 but I fired TONS, probably hundreds, and never had to hope for more. I just kept firing over and over and for some reason, I kept getting more (possibly got them running through the tall grass).

All I did was shoot down the riders on the pig beasts and the birds for a while. They would all come back after a few seconds and I'd just shoot them down again. Eventually, after quite a few circles around Hyrule Field, they managed to make it to Kakariko.

Yeah, this part of the game was pretty hectic.

My strategy was observing first (it helps especially in this kind of game) and I noticed something.

Upon entering the field the bird comes first and then attacks, quickly kill the bird. Draw your sword and kind of stay back and fight them (or speed up), but the time the wagon gets to the mid point the next bird will be ready to drop the bomb, so its VERY IMPORTANT to arrow that bird down ASAP before the wagon gets any further, once you do that. Lock on to the riders and shoot like nuts. It might take a couple rounds to get a hang of it.

Anyways, theres basically two points on the field the birds always enter in, the beginning and between mid and ending point. So far you are mostly right, the birds bomb have a bigger impact than the riders.

P.S. If you think its hectic right now, wait until you get further down the road in the game. ;)

I had to take a break. This part is driving me crazy, too. I can't seem to lock the boomarang with Z very well on to the wagon and ride at the same time. The horse control is tough and I keep riding into rocks and getting stuck.

Oh well, I'm sure I'll get it sooner or later.

If you only have one aarow, shoot at one of the enemies on the boar's back, they give off aarows when you kill them. Also, running through tall grass. As was mentioned earlier, I had what seemed like an endless supply of aarows.

Tip: Make sure the carriage stays ahed of you, but not too far. I made the mistake of going ahed of it at first, but the carriage ended up on fire, I had to slow down to fight the enemies then put the fire out.

I locked on to the birds with my boomerang and it killed the birds.....
well the bombs they were carrying blew them up.

I don't remember any bombs exploding at all for me. I guess I killed the birds before they had the chance to fire any exposives at the carriage.

But yes, I made the mistake of thinking that the carriage would just follow me to Kakariko my first attempt, and by the time I reached the far side of Hyrule field, I realized that the carriage was on fire and wayyyyyyy off course and they were slaughtered out there in Hyrule field because of my failures.

I let innocent people DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hah, It took me an hour to beat it but it was an intense hour, try going right on front of the carriage as the bomb explodes I tried that as a last attempt and it did not divert the carriage

I just finished doing that part like 2 hours ago and it really pissed me off.

But when you get into the field, ride ahead of them but not too far and kill the birds when they show up. Let the thing burn because it'll keep following the road but it's the bird's bombs that really mess everything up. I locked on them using arrows.

when you kill those ogre guys, they sometimes drop arrows. you can also use your slingshot to shoot the birds.. but u just need to get closer. i was in your situation too... ended up using the slingshot which worked fine

This part was giving me difficulty as well, but an easy way to get past it is to stick to your boomerang. Don't even take out your bo and arrow. Just slash those riders with your sword, and use the boomerang to put out the fire (when/if necessary) and hit the birds.

Is it just me or when I used the boomerang on the birds I killed them? And yes, that was pretty hectic, but hectic on a fun way :D:D just keep trying.
