An incredible 25 years after the launch of the first Tetris game, Nintendo has announced today that it will be releasing Tetris Party Deluxe across Europe for the Wii this autumn.* In addition to the traditional Tetris that we all know and love, this new version of the classic game also features many new enhanced modes of play, including the chance to create your own puzzles, steer a Tetrimno through challenging courses, match a silhouette using Tetriminos and other shapes and clear lines using bombs for explosive chain reactions. Also, for the first time ever in a Tetris game, players can track their progress using in-game statistics that award more than 130 achievements.

Of course with it being a Wii game, you can expect Miis to pop up somewhere, and you can even use your Wii Balance Board or Wii Wheel, believe it or not,* in certain game modes, as well as chatting with friends via Wii Speak within the Wi-Fi Battle lobby. As far as multiplayer gameplay goes, you can interact with up to three other people in local play or up to five other people via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.

If that all sounds good to you, then put September 3rd 2010 in your diary as that’s the date the game will be launched across Europe (North America has had it since June).
