If you are playing a game that uses friend codes, you need the code of the game, and you need a friend or more with their code and their game to play online.
EA does not use friend codes, so all you need to do there is connect to their server when playing a game (Madden 08, NBA 08 or Medal Of Honor) and got through the rest of the details there.
So if you don't want codes, your best bet is to go with EA games so either Madden 08, NBA 08 or Medal Of Honor. I recommend the latter choice.

First off, look for games that have the blue Wi-Fi circle on them, that means they have online play. Next, either swap friend codes or enter a lobby to start playing online.
