Help! I can get past the end of A Snack of Cosmic Proportions!?

I was able to make it past the first pull stars in this level fine, but after feeding the star & exploring the new world it transformed into, I can get past the pull stars at the end. I've collected all the blue star points and just keep pullling myself around the gold star. I know I'm missing something simple. Can someone tell me what??

start pulling with one then switch to another so your charater will pass thru the center of the cluster and you will get the star
