help sending messages

i added a few people on my wiiiiiii and for some reason i cant send messages..
i click on send message then the middle letter and tells me to chose a contact, the name of the contact is there but i cant send them a message :wtf: ...
any one have this problem and now how to fix it or something.

Have they added you?

You both have to add each other.

You'll know when they add you if the name turns black.
