japan wii work in uk

hi can anyone tell me if a wii brought in japan will work in the uk and play uk games/
all help would be appriciated

The wii is region locked.

Yes to a certain extent..

I have one... They play about 30% of english games...

However for me when i put in a English Red Steel, language went to jap.

So... Yes and no...
