Max & the Magic Marker Coming to WiiWare in March-1.052010-02-08 17:21:08Maura S

Independent Danish developer Press Play has today announced Max & the Magic Marker for Nintendo WiiWare in the US this March. The game is a classic 2D platformer set in a cartoon world inspired by children’s drawings. The gameplay has a rather unusual twist to it, in that it gives players the ability to draw directly inside the game world and then interact with their drawings, using a magic marker to solve puzzles, overcome obstacles, and defeat enemies, along the way collecting ink so that they can continue drawing. The Wii Nunchuk is used for player movement, while the Wii Remote controls the marker. At any point the player can pause the action to draw their way out of sticky situations.

The game’s hero is a young boy called Max who loves to draw. When he receives a mysterious orange marker in the mail and starts drawing with it, he notices that it has magical powers. Anything that Max draws starts to come to life on the paper, and the adventure really begins when Max draws himself into his own picture.

Max & the Magic Marker, which is currently out on PC and Mac, has already been honoured with the Unity Awards Best Overall Game award and the European Innovative Games Award for Innovative Game Design.
