To celebrate the 75th Anniversary of Monopoly, EA has today announced that it is developing Monopoly Streets for all the main consoles, including the Wii. For the first time ever, players will get to experience Monopoly from the board’s eye view, so to speak, as a fully dynamic, living, 3D world that continuously evolves with the video game action.* Enter the world of Monopoly at street level and see the majestic buildings in the rich areas and the more run-down properties in the poorer areas brought to life. The game will also feature player-owned headquarters that rise and fall along with the player’s fortunes – big, bold and beautiful when you’re doing well, compact and depressing when you’re not doing so good. And if you’re still hankering after the more traditional classic Monopoly experience every once in a while, those modes are included too.

Possibly one of the most fun aspects of the Wii version of the game is being able to create and play as your own Wii Mii, and have the city populated by your friends’ Miis. Here’s Chip Lange, general manager and senior vice president of EA’s Hasbro Division, talking about the game:

“We’re taking Hasbro’s No. 1 family game brand and masterfully striking the balance of offering the classic Monopoly play experience and adding a spectacular new visual treatment as we bring the classic board to life with players walking the streets of Monopoly.”

Look for the game to be launched on the Nintendo Wii this Fall.
