Natsume announced a new Rune Factory game for the Wii today – Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny. The Rune Factory series combines the addictive and rewarding gameplay of Harvest Moon with the thrill and excitement of an action-RPG for the best of both gaming worlds.

“We know our loyal fans have been patiently awaiting news of a North American release for Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny, so we are thrilled to announce that the latest entry in the fan-favorite series is on its way,” said Hiro Maekawa, President and CEO of Natsume. “Featuring a vast region to explore, a wonderful cast of characters, and a huge variety of activities to enjoy, Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny is sure to make waves!”

The game’s story centres around the adventures of Aden and Sonja, two lifelong friends whose peaceful existence on Fenith Island is shattered when they are struck by a mysterious curse and wake up to find that both their souls are trapped in the same body. And as if that wasn’t enough bad news for one morning, their home of Fenith has been replaced by a strange island full of unfamiliar faces. In order to save their homeland, Aden and Sonja must first solve the mystery of the curse that has befallen them. Along the way they’ll be joined in their quest by a giant golem, Ymir, and use him to help them cross vast seas, discover hidden islands and dungeons packed with riches, and battle fearsome monsters of the deep.

The game will get its first airing at E3 in June, and will be released for the Wii later this year.
