“This is a reimagining of the first Silent Hill,” explains producer Tomm Hulett. “It’s not a remake or a port. That’s an important distinction. It really feels like a new game.”

We will have more details on this game as they come in, and I will add that information to this post. Thanks to Marl0 for the heads up!

UPDATE - quotes from the article…

“The characters play different roles, things don’t necessarily happen in the same order, and the story is taken in lots of new directions. You still play as Harry Mason, you’re still looking for your daughter, and you’ll see familiar elements, but they’re all twisted to betray your expectations.”

“One of Shattered Memories’ most significant and intriguing additions—your answers actually affect how the game unfolds. And it doesn’t end there. the game “watches” you constantly, and your behavior throughout can determine when you’ll meet certain characters, which scenes you’ll witness, and a variety of other factors.” “In Silent Hill games, the town always gets inside the protagonist’s head,” say Hulett. “But now, it’s getting inside YOUR head.”

“We’re using the Wii Remote to interact directly with the environment, so the puzzles are all based around that idea,” says Hulett. “You’re not just hitting buttons to choose things.” He also notes that the solution to a puzzle is always in the immediate vicinity, and assures us there’s a lot less backtracking then in previous games.”

“Longtime fans of the series will also be delighted to learn that there’s a way through every locked door; no more checking dozens of entrances only to find that 90% of them are permanently barred shut.”

seen the news on wii.ign.com 5 mins ago and it really makes me excited! i loved this game and thank god it's not a port.

WOW!! I've been wanting to play this game on my ps2 for a while now! I'll definately wait for the Wii version!!.... *looks at calendar*..... sigh... never mind...

Im not to crazy on the no combat idea though. Hafta see how that works out. I would rather have limited combat than none.

Make evading the best possible solution ,but have limited weapons you could pick up in the enviroment (ala Condemed) to battle the zombies ,or what have you.

Wow... it's not an on-rail shooter.

Awesome!!

More and more surival horror games come to Wii, great!!

Now, I remenber the AKIRA YAMAHOKA'S (SH: Homecoming music producer) words: " No, SH series

will never come to Wii, becose is a kiddy console"...

HA, HA, HA. Mr. Joker Yamahoka, you already did fools!!

Who launghs now!!

i remember that too stickmode. Oh how perspectives change. Now maybe Valve ,and Epic will start respecting the Wii as i'd like to see some kind of Half Life game (not on rails please thank you) ,and a 3D Jazz the Jackrabbit game in the style of something like Ratchet n Clank.

A port of Half Life: Source, with all the expansions would be awesome.

Hell Half Life 2 ran on the original Xbox. Be great to see Half Life 1 in Xbox 1's HL2 engine on Wii. Hell even a Wiimake of Prey ,or Doom3+Expansion. Okay i'm dreaming lol.
