Wii remotes not holding a charge

Can anyone help? We have had our Wii for a few months now. We have a docking charger which turns blue when the wii remotes are fully charged. We then switch the wii off. However if we don't use the wii for a few days the remotes don't seem to last. Its like they are being drained of charge.

We have tried removing them from the docking charger when they are charged, but they still don't seem to last very long.

Am I doing anything wrong or is this usual?

How long should a wii remote last before running out from being fully charged?

Any help would be appreciated - thanks.

If the charger is plugged into the Wii and the remote are left in while its off it will drain the power out of them.

So when the Wii is off its best to unplug the charger
