This thread is my personal opinion of which titles you 360rs should definitely check out (and if you don't have a 360, you should certainly consider getting one). Comment all you want, and feel free to recommend titles I should add to the list, but they may not be added (as I said, this is thread is my opinion).

As you will see, I have a description, videos, and an “author’s note” (personal take) for each game, and some of them have a link to a hands-on experience if the videos weren’t taken at E3. Hope you enjoy the compilation.

Some heads up:
* When I use the word “today”, I am referring to the day which the game is released on.
* If a game’s description does not have a source (i.e. “- IGN.com”, “- Wikipedia”, etc.), I just made it up. These are still based on concrete information, but may be slightly biased by how awesome I think the game is.

WET (09/08/09): http://wet.bethsoft.com/index-1200.htm

Videos: http://wet.bethsoft.com/index-1200.htm (it should be on the homepage)

Hands on: http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/wet/news.html?sid=6213530

Author's note: I'm interested in almost everything Bethesda makes, period. WET looks like a game that could succeed in a genre that doesn't generally do well (female assassin's get the hate, go figure), almost like a super upgraded Red Steel due to the sword/gun style gameplay. Not a whole lot of details released about the game, but it looks great.

Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 (09/15/09): A follow up to one of the biggest super hero games of all time, comes UA2. Along with returning favorites are new characters, new moves, "Fusion" techniques (where two supers join together for some major demolition), greatly enhanced graphics, enhanced dialogue options, another war torn story line, and much more. Whose side are you on?

Videos: http://xbox360.ign.com/dor/objects/14233938/marvel-ultimate-alliance-2/videos/mua2_trl_demotailer_72809.html

Hands on: http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/100/1006127p1.html

Author's note: Take a stellar game, and increase its awesomeness.. that's Ultimate Alliance 2. One of the best co-op experiences of the year, guaranteed.

Halo 3: ODST (09/22/09): Halo 3: ODST is a shooter game with gameplay taking place from a first-person perspective. Although the gameplay of ODST bears a strong resemblance to previous Halo titles, the player does not assume the role of the enhanced human super soldier Master Chief. Instead, the player controls a lone UNSC soldier, known as "the Rookie", in the city of New Mombasa, East African Protectorate (formerly Kenya). Since the soldier, known as an ODST or Orbital Drop Shock Trooper, does not possess Master Chief's advanced armor, reflexes and strength, he is more vulnerable to gunfire; players are forced to act more cautiously. The soldier HUD is different from the previous series, with red outlines for the enemies, but the aiming reticule remains. While the game is not focused on stealth gameplay, some elements of stealth will be incorporated. It will also include an open world environment, utilizing the old vehicles and weapons, and adding new features like more varied acrobatics for the Banshee. - Wikipedia

Hands on: http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3174518

Author's note: Nothing need be said.. this is Halo we're talking about here. Although, I am a little disappointed in the $60 price tag, I really hope it lives up to a full game's worth of material.

Dark Void (09/22/09): Dark Void delivers a ground breaking combination of fast paced vertical combat mixed with mid-air and on-foot action. Something is consuming our universe, a vast and ancient force almost beyond our comprehension. Millions of years ago, the minions of that power found their way to the 3rd planet of an unremarkable yellow star. Ours. The race they created came to call their masters "The Watchers." For millennia we knew them as gods and served their dark purposes, but a few humans developed extraordinary powers. They were known as the Adepts and they rose up, banishing The Watchers into a parallel universe, where they've manipulated and schemed from afar. Until now. - IGN.com

Hands on: http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/992/992044p1.html

Author's note: This look.. unusual, to say the least. The interesting mechanics alongside an interesting storyline has me intrigued, we'll see if it delivers. Depending on the reviews, this could be a must buy or something to avoid altogether.

Alpha Protocol (10/06/09): Loyalty carries a price and no one knows this more than agent Michael Thorton. A talented young agent cast out by his government, Thorton is the only one with the information needed to stop an impending international catastrophe. To do so means he must cut himself off from the very people he is sworn to protect. As players determine how to accomplish different objectives, the decisions made and actions taken in each mission will ultimately transform the type of secret agent Michael Thorton will become. Every choice the player makes as Michael Thorton will carry consequences for his future and the fate of the world. - IGN.com

Hands on: http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/100/1008292p1.html

Author's note: The next thing for spy/Bond games. The RPG elements sound great, as well as the number of dialogue paths you can take (which seems to be more and more occurring nowadays). I'm sure Obsidian can pull it off.

Brütal Legend (10/13/09): With a fantastic blend of humor, hack'n'slash, and music that makes you want drink the blood of a bat, Brütal Legend looks like a title worth look out for. Eddie Riggs is the world’s greatest roadie, sent back in time to an empire on the brink of destruction to conquer evil and become a rock legend. It's predecessor got us talking about what could be to come, now it's time to see if it puts out.

Hands on: http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/988/988429p1.html

Author's note: First off, Jack Black was born to do voice acting for this character. They merge effortlessly. Secondly, this just looks like a great game. The landscapes, the vehicle/fighting/army type gameplay looks like a blast, and the music is a hit. Be on the lookout for this metal head to hit shelves today.

Borderlands (10/20/09): A sci-fi / action RPG from acclaimed developer Gearbox, Borderlands combines the best in first-person action with player customization and vehicular combat for incredible layers of gameplay depth. The game features a groundbreaking content generation system allowing for near-endless variety in missions, environments, enemies, weapons, item drops and character customization. Borderlands allows for multiple players to share the same game experience simultaneously online in co-op gameplay. Players can freely join or leave each other's games at anytime, or choose to play in the full single-player mode. The game also boasts lifelike character animations, impressive real-time physics, and customizable vehicles. - IGN.com

Author's note: This game looks huge, graphically/artistically wonderful, and thankfully long. Show this RPG some love.

Dragon Age Origins (10/20/09): Dragon Age: Origins is the spiritual successor to BioWare's critically acclaimed Baldur's Gate, featuring deep character customization and role-playing, morally challenging decisions, tactical party-based combat, and a wealth of gritty, mature sub-plots. It is a dark, heroic fantasy game that combines original storytelling techniques with classic role-playing challenges. - IGN.com

Author’s note: I can’t say how excited I am for this game. If you love fantasy RPG’s set in the medieval time period (i.e. Elder Scrolls series), you will understand my expectations and hopes. Definitely a day one purchase for me.

Forza 3 (10/27/09): Take Forza 2, and make it better (better frame rate, graphics, more fluid mechanics, customization, more cars, etc.)

Videos: http://media.xbox360.ign.com/media/143/14345839/vids_1.html

Author’s note: If you liked Forza 2 (or if you like racing games), get this. The best of its genre guaranteed.

Modern Warfare 2 (11/10/09): Infinity Ward has dropped the “Call of Duty” moniker for its latest entry in the franchise, but it is still the 6th game in the series. The game takes place in several venues across the world, building off of the mechanics of their now legendary “Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare” (considered one of, if not the, best and most successful FPSs ever made). The player will now take on the role of Sergeant Gary “Roach” Sanderson, whilst the main character/protagonist of the last Modern Warfare acts as Sanderson’s Captain and mentor.

http://xbox360.ign.com/dor/objects/14281102/call-of-duty-6/videos/e3live_modern2_p3.html

Author’s note: Any lover of FPSs in their right mind will not miss out on this title (GET IT).

Assassin’s Creed 2 (11/17/09): Desmond Miles takes another trip through time, this time stepping in the shoes of his ancestor Ezio Auditore di Firenze (The Flying One, Listener of Florence). The setting is Italy during the Italian Renaissance (1486), a perfect place for our high-flying assassin to mark his targets and execute accordingly. He’s decked out with tons of new gadgets, friends, and missions to make this installment even more memorable than its blockbuster predecessor.

Videos: http://assassinscreed.uk.ubi.com/assassins-creed-2/
http://assassinscreed.uk.ubi.com/assassins-creed-2/#/video/5723

Author’s note: This game looks so polished, I can barely look at it without being blinded. The graphics appear perfect, the mechanics look creamy smooth, and the variation will solve most of the issues that arose in the first Assassin’s Creed (many complained of repetitiveness, but the several different mission types, moves, hiding techniques, and weapons/upgrades should solve that). This is my first pre-order in years.

The Saboteur (12/08/09): Experience the ultimate open-world action/adventure as The Saboteur. Fight, climb, and race your way through a uniquely stylized version of Nazi-occupied France, and hunt down your sworn enemies who have taken everything from you. Enter the seedy underground world of a saboteur living in 1940s Paris, where the women are sexy, the missions are epic, and the revenge is satisfying. - IGN.com

http://xbox360.ign.com/dor/objects/894259/saboteur/videos/saboteur_trl_e32009_52809.html

Hands on: N/A

Author's note: One of the freshest looking games of 2009, a collaboration of your favorite gunner, speed getaway, and stealth franchises all in one. Hopefully The Saboteur will get all the help it can get with the holiday season being around, despite the big releases surrounding it.

Aliens: Colonial Marines (12/31/09): Aliens: Colonial Marines features a story driven single-player mode and a four player co-op mode allowing players to share the chilling experience with three friends. In co-op mode, each player assumes the persona of a United States Colonial Marine and have a distinct role to play in the completion of every mission. - IGN.com

Videos: N/A

Author’s note: This looks like a quality, Left 4 Dead-esque multiplayer experience that should not be missed. Hopefully Colonial Marines can redeem the Aliens franchise, which has been slipping for over a decade now.

Darksiders (12/31/09): Originally sent to oversee the destruction of Earth, the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse have been betrayed by their master, stripped of their powers and cast down to Earth. Players take on the role of WAR -- the first of the Four Horsemen -- as he embarks on a brutal quest of vengeance and revenge against the forces that betrayed him with the help of his phantom steed RUIN. Darksiders: Wrath of War features open-world exploration, a deep combat system and a huge arsenal of modern and mythical weapons. - IGN.com

Videos: http://darksidersvideogame.com/#/en/media/mediaVideo_content/ (just enter the site using a 17+ date of birth)

Hands on: http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/984/984044p1.html

Author’s note: Armageddon, the four horsemen of the apocalypse (well, one of them), seeking out the unknown destroyer of humanity, demons, and angels with revenge dripping from their teeth, and a hell torn earth. Can you honestly look me in the eye and tell me this doesn’t look flippin’ awesome?

Battlefield Bad Company 2 (12/31/09): In Battlefield: Bad Company 2, the Bad Company crew again find themselves in the heart of the action, where they must use every weapon and vehicle at their disposal to survive. The action unfolds with unprecedented intensity, introducing a level of fervor to vehicular warfare never before experienced in a modern warfare action game. - IGN.com

Videos: http://xbox360.ign.com/dor/objects/14293277/battlefield-bad-company-2/videos/e3live_badcompany2.html

Hands on: http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/battlefieldbadcompany2/news.html?sid=6210090

Author’s note: I’m not sure if I will be buying this, but I definitely will try to coerce one of my friends into doing so. The first one was decent (others say it was the best game of 2008), so I expect improvements in areas that were weak to make a much stronger, solid title this time around. In the end, my thought at the moment is that it’s just going to be a watered down Modern Warfare 2.

Mass Effect 2 (12/31/09): Two years after Commander Shepard repelled invading Reapers bent on the destruction of organic life, a mysterious new enemy has emerged. On the fringes of known space, something is silently abducting entire human colonies. Now Shepard must work with Cerberus, a ruthless organization devoted to human survival at any cost, to stop the most terrifying threat mankind has ever faced.
To even attempt this perilous mission, Shepard must assemble the galaxy’s most elite team and command the most powerful ship ever built. Even then, they say it would be suicide. Commander Shepard intends to prove them wrong.

Hands on: http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/991/991756p1.html

Author’s note: If you haven’t played Mass Effect and consider yourself an RPG fan, you need to buy it. Then today, you need to treat yourself to a late Christmas present and buy its sequel.

My take on a few games (that have been confirmed and include some concrete details) out in the future:

Bayonetta (~January 2010): A witch with powers beyond the comprehension of mere mortals, Bayonetta faces-off against countless angelic enemies, many reaching epic proportions, in a game of 100% pure, unadulterated all-out action. Outlandish finishing moves are performed with balletic grace as Bayonetta flows from one fight to another. With magnificent over-the-top action taking place in stages that are a veritable theme park of exciting attractions, Bayonetta pushes the limits of the action genre, bringing to life its fast-paced, dynamic climax combat. - IGN.com

http://xbox360.ign.com/dor/objects/14253761/bayonetta/videos/bayonetta_angelsofdeath_gmp_e3.html

Kingdom Under Fire II (TBA 2010): Finally, KUF receives its true sequel. A legendary RTS/action game as it was known for, KUFII brings back the epic battles and intense action that a true commander might feel. Graphics look spectacular, the gameplay looks fantastic, nothing much more to say. Be on the look out.

Videos: http://xbox360.ign.com/dor/objects/14231228/kingdom-under-fire-ii/videos/KUF2_In_Game_111408.html

Split/Second (Q1 2010): Split/Second is an intense action racing game. Boring, right? This time, there's a twist: it's set inside a world of a super competitive television show. Competitors are trained to bring as much mayhem and hell to their opponents as possible, and the object of the game, other than winning, is to strategically place your traps so that you can at the very least complete each course without being utterly annihilated. One of the more interesting racing titles I've seen in a while, can't wait to see how it progress in the next few months.

Videos: http://xbox360.ign.com/dor/objects/14323202/black-rock-project/videos/split_second_trl_e32009trailer_60409.html

Max Payne 3 (Q4 2009): Max is tired, desperate, and involuntarily being pulled back into his work as a cop.. however, the setting this time around is much, much different. Set in Sao Paolo, Brazil, Max is living his life out as a retired police cop who has undergone some serious character transformation since our last meeting. The game will still have the elements that made the original such a classic, but will add several new archetypes and gameplay factors that will give Max Payne 3 a fresh feel. Whether you've played the others in the series or not, be looking forward to this!

Singularity (Q1 2010): In Singularity, you will fight your way through an ever-shifting environment haunted with time ravaged creatures, while sudden time waves hurl you back and forth between 1950 and the present day. Use your wits and the perfect weapon (the TMD, or Time Manipulation Device) to unravel the conspiracy on the remote island of Katorga-12. - The Official Website

Hands on: http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/100/1006570p1.html

Author's note: This looks like a terrific new concept. Could only be a rental depending on how long it takes to beat it, or how great it ends up being. Looking forward to its release either way.

Splinter Cell: Conviction (Q1 2010): The adventures of Sam Fisher continue in the fifth entry of the stealth-based series. In this game, all of the rules have changed, as the storyline takes a dramatic turn that will reinvent the Splinter Cell franchise forever. Fisher can no longer rely on his trusted bag of tools and iconic goggles. An investigation into his daughter's death unwittingly leads former agent Sam Fisher to discover he’s been betrayed by his prior agency, the Third Echelon. Now a renegade, Fisher finds himself in a race against time to thwart a deadly terrorist plot that threatens millions.
Uniting revolutionary gameplay enhancements with a high-octane, no-holds-barred storyline, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction arms you to the teeth with all the high-tech weaponry and lethal skills of an elite operative and invites you to enter a dangerous world where justice means making your own rules.

Author’s note: I honestly am not a big Splinter Cell fan, but this does look like a tight game. It appears very well developed, plus it has great graphics. Looking forward to seeing reviews.

Bioshock 2 (Q1 2010): Set during the fall of Rapture, players assume the role of a Plasmid test subject for Sinclair Solutions, a premier provider of Plasmids and Tonics in the underwater city of Rapture that was first explored in the original BioShock. Players will need to use all the elements of the BioShock toolset to survive as the full depth of the BioShock experience is refined and transformed into a unique multiplayer experience that can only be found in Rapture. - IGN.com

Hands on: http://news.bigdownload.com/2009/06/04/e3-2009-bioshock-2-eyes-on-impressions/

Author’s note: Looks like a great sequel to an already AAA game, what’s not to look forward to? The multi-player aspect is especially exciting, hopefully it all pans out appropriately.

The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf (Status: suspended due to financial problems): If/when The Witcher hits the console market, this could be one of the biggest RPGs for the industry.. ever. I bought it for my laptop, but it couldn’t even come close to handling a game of this size, so I’m really hoping development will resume in the upcoming months. You can check out videos of the critically acclaimed PC version online.

Rage (Status: in development): Think Fallout 3, a little more linear, but (what appears to be) just as fun. Looks ridiculous. You race around, shoot up super mutants, buy new car parts, shoot up super mutants.. you get the point. Very excited for more news on its release.

Videos: http://pc.ign.com/dor/objects/926419/id-tech-5-project/videos/rage_trl_trailer_81309.html

Final Fantasy XIII (~April 2010): The next installment in the Final Fantasy franchise, and it's first time on a Microsoft console. Anything Final Fantasy is worth looking out for.

Videos: http://xbox360.ign.com/dor/objects/14266574/final-fantasy-xiii/videos/ff13_trl_e3trailer_60209.html
http://xbox360.ign.com/dor/objects/14266574/final-fantasy-xiii/videos/ffxIII_demo_e3.html

Metal Gear Solid: Rising (Status: in development): Most likely another masterpiece by the legendary Hideo Kojima, except this time you’re playing as the beast and almost invincible human commonly known as Raiden. Very excited as more leaks out about this title.

Alan Wake (~Spring 2010): The horror announced years ago made it’s return to the big screen at E3 and wowed many people, myself included. Solid, interesting gameplay has me waiting on edge to get my hands on this title Q2 next year.

Videos: http://xbox360.ign.com/dor/objects/743608/remedy-project-next-gen-title/videos/alanwake_vdp_061709.html

Arcania: A Gothic Tale (Status: TBA 2009): Considering the lack of information about the game, A:AGT is referred to as Gothic IV (this may change when more is release about the story). Looks a ton like Oblivion, and am so excited by the way it looks at the moment, hopefully more news will be out soon about this rapidly approaching action/RPG.

Two Worlds II: The Temptation (~February 2010): Similar to A:AGT, Two Worlds II looks like a fantastic, Oblivion-esque game. If they can improve upon the first one, which was hated on by many in the RPG fan base, and make the franchise more well known, we may see more of these fantasy, medieval RPGs for a long time to come (which is certainly a welcome thing).

Champions Online (Status: in development): Champions Online is a superheroic MMO project by the creators of City of Heroes, designed to give players the power of total customization of their hero experience while they explore a vast universe of richly detailed 3D environments. The game features literally billions of character options allowing total customization, real-time action combat and of course the richly detailed Champions universe. - IGN.com

Recent Games That Have Been Released:

Batman: Arkham Asylum (08/25/09): The player assumes the role of Batman, taking Joker in for the umpteenth time the infamous Arkham Asylum. Once there, he discovers that all the villains have set up an enormous trap for him, and the game unfolds into insanity. Dark, stealthy, and dependent on one's gadgets (as Batman rightly should be), AA will be the first true title that DC can be proud of for their batty hero.

Author's note: This is a must have if you are a fan of Batman, in any shape or form. I don't care if you just have a bat fetish, just buy this game. What do you mean you want my opinion? I obviously think something of it if I post it here!

Shadow Complex (08/19/09): Shadow Complex is set in the compelling universe of Empire, Orson Scott Card's best-selling novel outside of the famed Ender's Game series. The game provides a fresh twist on classic side-scroller action by delivering an original single-player adventure that unfolds across a range of non-linear levels. Gameplay centers around exploration and fast-paced combat as players gather power-ups to overcome obstacles, thwart enemies, and delve into a mysterious and challenging world. - IGN.com

Author's note: This simply looks like the best XLA game I've seen to date. Genre bending and arguably revolutionary, this is deservedly a must-see title.

Wolfenstein (08/18/09): This is the latest installment in the Wolfenstein franchise, one of the biggest hits in history (among peers such as DOOM), developed by the legendary id Software. The game takes place immediately after the events in 2001's Return to Castle Wolfenstein. Playing as BJ Blazkowicz, players will once again uncover a Nazi scheme to ascertain the supernatural to further their plans for world domination. The object of interest this time around is the Black Sun, a dark energy source that allows Nazi's access to another dimension of evil called Veil (which BJ himself has the ability to enter as well).

Hands on: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/e3-wolfenstein-hands-on

Author's note: This is a first day buy for me, there's really no way this could be bad. The new "alternate dimension" type power looks like a phenomenal gameplay element, along with the classic Wolfenstein enemies (sexy assassins, demons, zombies, nazis) and feel.

Shadow Complex

*explodes*

Great game for 1200 MSP, and can easily be mistaken for a retail game. I edged out at 7 hours with 56% of the items and will most definitely be going back and try to get 100%. Highly recommended from me.

I've heard great things. Actually, I don't think I've heard a single bad thing.. there are far too many quality games coming out for so little funds.

Also, any game that has been released will now go under my second post from most recent to least recent.

Good to see this thread brought over here.

And yeah, if anyone has an extra 1200 MS points to spare, you MUST buy Shadow Complex. It's an excellent game, haven't beaten it yet but the quality of the game is awesome (even if the story isn't perfect).

Edited, Batman: Arkham Asylum released today. This is one I'll be renting at some point. Seems great, but definitely not worth buying for $60.. doesn't look like there's enough extra features to reward several plays through.

The story is set up for some major facepalms from people.

Characters were generic and it wasn't really necessary to include it, really.

dont know if it's been mentioned but youve got a couple release dates wrong, all i did was scan it ill take a closer look at the thread when i have time but i know dragon age was delayed and mass effect 2 has been set for 2010 since it was announced.

No problem, I know how that goes. Everything was correct when I originally made this (last month), it's bound to be outdated at some point. If you could help that'd be great, but I'll do what I can in the mean time.
