flashlights are the new wii sensor bars?

so my wii sensor bar broke awhile ago which i dont care cuz i didnt use it anyway. so the other day i was playing my VC games and i got bored and started messing around on the Wii menu and i wondered "what would happen if i point the remote into a flashlight?" so i did just that with the flashlight on....and BAM! theres this strange mysterious lil hand with a blue 1P on it moving around on my screen! what could this mean??

Infrared is more invisible, and is small enough to fit in Wiimotes. Infrared is a lightsource you cannot really see.

well you could still play classic controller compatible games, since you can just select stuff with that controller... but i dont think a new sensor bar is expensive at all
