As for the linux on the PS3. Thats actually one of the best parts about it. Here is why... Modders. Sony intentionally did this, just like the PSP. The homebrew and modding that comes out of hackers and modders is astounding. Its a double edged sword though, it means the PS3 will have a lot of fun things that the community can make for it, even personal games, at the same time it makes it easier to hack the games. Though i have a feeling once games start using up a lot of the space on a blue ray, not many will want to download 30 gigabites worth of game.
The PS3's initial setup is much like the PSP... the PSP has been modded and hacked to heavenly proportions. This was merely a warm up for the modders to learn the system, now its right there available on an even greater system.. the PS3.
They already have Xbox360 controllers working on the PS3. They can and will make the Wii controller work for it too. Why? The wii controller already works on the PC with the right software. This software can be made for the PS3. Even if they did, at this point it wouldnt get full use out of the Wii controller, but its usable.
Another strong point that carries along with the moddability of the firmware is also the moddability of the games. Its entirely possible to have games like oblivion that has a huge mod community for the PC, to make mods of the game itself and port it over to the PS3.
Basically, once you have seen and experience how vast and vastly superior the mod community is, you will realize the full potential of the systems that can be modded completely. The hackers and modders out there are often better programmers than those working for the companies themselves.
Dont believe me, there are many great sites to see some of the progress thats being made on the PSP alone.
Someone even made a home version of super smash bros using the old school mario engine.
Some user made games for the PSP... (these can work with the PS3 and also this same community is already involved in PS3 modding and homebrew)
