I just purchased my first Wii Points through the online store and was charged $1.25 for tax. Not a huge deal, but it surprised me. I thought online transactions were not subject to sales tax unless there was a bricks & mortar store in your state. It just said "Tax" too, not Cook County, or Illinois State Sales Tax. What authority is taxing me? Nintendo Tax Collector?

Anyone else Experience this?

I had the same tax charged. Such is life.

i'm also curious to know what this tax is... i got taxed online too. same tax...different countries?

Allan!

I couldn't find any specifics on the Nintendo website but did find this:

Billing address issues

"For tax purposes, the Wii Shop service has certain requirements for the spelling of city, state abbreviation, and county names, as well as zip code confirmation."

It is strange that someone in Toronto would be charged the same tax as someone in Illinois.

well... nobody's mentioned how much tax we got charged... so it's possible we're being charged "correctly" according to our geographic location.
