If I have a mono tv (meaning only yellow and white sockets for the AV cable), can I still play the Wii properly? Of course, the sound won't be as good as stereo, but is it still okay?

Also, can I change the audio settings to mono on the Wii?

Ya Paintballer is right get a better T.V you will notice the change after awhile(hopefully). It'll probably still work though to answer you question.

I am not getting a better TV. I am living in Japan and I don't plan to stay here for years, so I don't want to dish out several hundred dollars for a TV.

Will it really make that much of a difference if I switch to stereo?

It'll work perfectly. I had to use the Wii on a mono T.V. for a while.

Sometimes the sound for games could be a bit weird (thinking specifically of TLOZ:ALttP on VC).

Sonic the Hedgehog on VC sounds funny too when grabbing rings. Every ring you grab makes a sound through the left and then right speaker. Playing it mono you will only hear every other ring sound.

Im using a mono TV, but just get a stereo and get one of those boxes at radio shack...sorry I cant remember what its called
