ShiftFallOut, the Laws of Supply and Demand are indeed true. However, you must remember that Nintendo and Sony have a monopoly over their consoles. That changes things a little bit. Since the Wii has consistently low supply, why doesn't the price of the Wii rise (as it should)? Since the price of the PS3 is so high, why doesn't the price IMMEDIATELY fall?
The supply curve for the Wii and the PS3 is flat. No matter how many units are made, the price will stay.

Boggles the mind, but the low supply actually means more demand and low price. High quantity of the PS3 is more pricey as there is less demand for it.
As for nintendo and sony having a monopoly.. well mono means ONE, so its not much of a monopoly is it. But your also forgetting Microsoft, when theres three, there should be some healthy competition. Nintendo, in order to be successful against the titan that is Xbox has to have a low price system, because right now xbox is selling their system for much cheaper than its actual worth is and it has a ton of games.

really which is better or worse is all opinion, you can say what each has and what each doesnt... but when it comes down to it in the end we will know which was "better" just meaning sold the most or made the most money its to early to tell who will win... xbox has the time and numbers so far.. they can drop there price quicker then the rest.. and still make out because of game sales to the consoles on the market already, wii is seling great and could still come down in price because they arnt even loosing money on the system yet.. they are making money. ps3 is slow but so are the games... games are what makes a system.. without good games it doesnt matter what you have so if ps3 does get the titles they are known to get there sales will pick right up... you can see just based on the members here alot buy the console based on the games it has.. each has there own nitch for games, but they get the games based on how many consoles they sell and then the 3rd party game developers put it out on the platform that will make them the most money...

360 has the lead being out the longest giving it the edge and more appeal to 3rd party's because the amount of games that are possibal to sell, and is the most appealing for online gameplay profit
ps3 has the tech but not the numbers "yet" so it appeals to alot of developers being they arnt limited with what they come out with.. they make money stricktly on games.. the most money comes from the best games.. alot of times thats something new and unique that sells great.. with the ps3 they have the power to do alot with a game..

Wii: Has dominion over several other ages/groups of people (Youth/Older people and new to the scene.. GIRLS!) that the other systems dont even touch. They have control over the 'party' console title (and anyone who has played with a bunch of friends will agree with that) They have also attracted many 3rd party developers to Nintendo that were never even considering for Nintendo (Examples: TakeTwo, Valve, Square Enix(more), etc). The Wii being able to cut its price down by a large percentage compared to the other systems will be good in future years also. They could cut it down significantly but still make profit per console, which niether the Xbox360 or the Ps3 can do. I can see the Wii being 99-150$ if ever need be. That would attract the 'low class' or 'casual' gamer even more.
Xbox360: Has the most control over the largest chunk of gamers right now due to their early release. This will keep them solid for the rest of the console war due to their huge library, their millions of consoles sold, and their Gold Membership Online Subscribers. Even if they loose people to the Wii/Ps3 they are by no means needing to worry for this Generation of consoles.
Ps3: Even though i recently have begun to have a fueled rage to sony. (not sure if its because of some of the Rep's statements or certain Sony fans.) Anyways the Playstation has a fairly large fanbase that still try to remain loyal even if they have went for a Xbox360 due to early release or cant quite afford it. So this fanbase can easily help fuel their needs. Id say out of all 3 systems right now Playstation has the largest ammount of exclusive developers/titles. And of course they have the dominion currently over MMORPG(for consoles) an example being Final Fantasy's. Even though many of their exclusives have wondered off to the Wii and some to the Xbox360 they still have lots their own. If the price CAN drop (im not too sure if itll do good or harm) they could get some more customers, but itll cost them even more of a loss per system (and they are already loosing enough). PS Home should attract some people, but we will have to see until it comes out. I dont think another Virtual Reality is what they need though.
Its hard to tell who will win in the end, we all have our bets and our facts and bluh bluh. Certain consoles are winning now, some are loosing. We all know things can totally flip backwards in any situation given due time.
